In 1994 the Tuolumne Park and Recreation District purchased a parcel of land on Cemetery Lane in order to establish a community garden for the people of Tuolumne. Over the years the Garden Steering Committee has over seen the improvement of this valuable resource. The Garden features 26 raised beds as well as a meeting area, green house, storage shed and compost pile.
Applications are accepted during the month of March. The gardening season begins May first and ends the following year at the end of April.
Membership requires 3 steps: 1. Payment of the annual $12 fee, 2. A complete Application Form 3. A signed copy of the "Garden Rules".
Forms are available at the TPRD office at 18603 Pine Street and on line using the above links.
You may also call Stephanie Garcia at 586-3593.
All members are expected to maintain their garden. This would include weeding, as well as watering. Members are encouraged to amend the soil to fit the growing needs of their plants. More information will be given you in your copy of the "Garden Rules".
The Tuolumne Park and Recreation District is grateful to all of those who have made this venture a success and looks forward to supporting the Tuolumne Community Garden for years to come.
